It would appear that “Agents of SHIELD” Season 6 is going to be its last. This is if rumors about its cancellation are anything to go by. The show’s fifth season did not exactly perform to fans’ and ABC’s expectations, so there are now conflicting reports about the future of the series. Even with these issues, however, there is a bright side in the form of an anniversary video released for fans to enjoy.
As Otaku Art reports, there have been rumors and speculations with regards to “Agents of SHIELD” Season 6 being the show’s last after season 5 severely underperformed. There was an initial confirmation from ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey that there are currently no plans to end the show after this season. However, that was back in a May report by TV Guide.
There could be a lot of developments from then to now and fans are both worried and confused. On that note, the release date of “Agents of SHIELD” Season 6 has been confirmed by one of the show’s stars. Actress Elizabeth Henstridge, who plays Jemma Simmons, told fans via Instagram that the show will be returning in July 2019.
Adding to fan concerns is the shorter episode count of “Agents of SHIELD” Season 6, which is only slated for 13 episodes. Combined with the 2019 release date, it’s no wonder that viewers are anxious about the fate of the series.
Just to lighten the mood, however, Marvel TV producer Geoffrey Colo recently posted a video on Twitter, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the show. It’s basically a compilation of scenes from the series’ first season. It should provide fans with enough nostalgia to be hyped for “Agents of SHIELD” Season 6. It won’t be enough to last them until July 2019, but it’s a start.
Happy 5th anniversary @Marvel #AgentsofSHIELD
