‘American Horror Story’ is set to feature Academy Award winner Cuba Cooding Jr. in a yet unconfirmed role. Meanwhile, a new promo for season 6 has recently been released featuring Lady Gaga’s new single “Perfect Illusion”.
According to Screen Crush, Gooding Jr. confirmed his involvement in the highly-anticipated incoming season of the horror anthology series created by Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy.
He said, “When Ryan calls you and says, ‘Hey can you do this? Would you like to do that?’ It’s an immediate yes, no matter what it is… That’s how I felt when I first met him and now, going on two years later. It’s just been an honor—it’s been a treat.”
The 48-year old actor admitted that although he wasn’t a fan of the horror genre, he binge-watched the preceding five episodes and was “truly blown away”. Gooding Jr. worked with Murphy on FX’s true crime anthology television series ‘American Crime Story’. He starred as O.J. Simpson in ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’, which is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book of the s.ame name.
Gooding Jr. also worked with ‘American Horror Story’ actress Sarah Paulson in ‘American Crime Story’. Gooding Jr. said, “It’s really been a treat to finally engage with her on camera, because when we did ‘The People v. O.J.’ it was more about my scenes and then her scenes and us being in the courtroom but separate. But we’re not separate no more!”
According to Complex, Murphy tends to work with the same actors across his series so it is no surprise that he has invited Gooding Jr. on his horror anthology. Details on the season’s plot and theme has been kept in secrecy prior to its scheduled premiere on FX on September 14. However, it was confirmed that season 6 cast members include Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Denis O’Hare, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Jordan, and Lady Gaga.
Although Lady Gaga’s role in the incoming season remains a mystery, her new single entitled “Perfect Illusion” was featured in the latest promo that stitched together previously released promos in a creepy 30-second clip posted on MTV.
‘American Horror Story’ is a supernatural-horror and drama anthology series that originally aired on FX on October 2011. Season 6 is scheduled to premiere on the network on September 14, 2016 and is produced under 20th Century Fox Television, Ryan Murphy Productions and Brad Falchuck Teley-Vision.
