‘American Horror Story’ season 6 is slated to premiere on FX on September 14. Cheyenne Jackson, who starred in ‘AHS: Hotel’, is set to return for another season together with Lady Gaga and Angela Bassett.
A short teaser video unveiled during the ‘American Horror Story’ Fearless VR Experience at San Diego Comic-Con announced that the series will return for a sixth season on September 14, according to E! News.
The video showed a short clip set in what looked to be a morgue filled with macabre elements such as examining tables, divider sheets, and fetuses in jars. At the end of the video, the season’s official logo was flashed followed by its premiere date on FX.
No new details were revealed as cast and crew were careful to keep the incoming season’s plot under wraps. The only real clue about season 6 was hinted by co-creator Ryan Murphy during the AHS: Hotel PaleyFest even last March. He teased, "We've been working on two ideas at once, which we've never done, so I don't want to say what it is… But...it will have a different form than we've ever done."
He also said in a separate interview, "The deeper that we go into the series — hopefully we'll last decades and decades — you will see that there's a definite universe and all the worlds are collided, sometimes in a very bizarre, interesting way. You will be seeing more and more of that as we go along."
The incoming season will star Evan Peters, Denis O’Hare, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Lady Gaga, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, and Leslie Jordan. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cheyenne Jackson will also be returning for another run in the series. He also confirmed his involvement via his Twitter account on June 28.
Jackson revealed that filming is underway. When asked how different season 6 will be from its predecessor ‘AHS: Hotel’, he remained vague with his reply. He said, "Just different. You'll see… horses wouldn't make me reveal the plot."
Emma Roberts, who appeared on season 3’s ‘AHS: Coven’ and season 4’s ‘AHS: Freak Show’, is yet to confirm her involvement. However, she told US Magazine that returning to the series is a possibility. She said, "I think that there might be — I was going to last season… I would love to go back and do a few episodes."
‘American Horror Story’ is a horror television series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. It first aired on FX on October 2011 and was renewed for a sixth season last November 2015. Season 6 is set to premiere on FX on September 14, 2016.
