Emojis have changed the way people interact via text messages, so much so that these days it’s not uncommon to send emojis in every message. It is also convenient and greatly enhances communication as they denote the emotion (happy, sad, angry, etc) behind the messages which are otherwise difficult to convey over texts.
Google’s senior vice president of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer, announced on Twitter that new emojis will be coming to Nexus phone next week. The full lineup is not known at the moment, however, going by the tweet it will definitely include a unicorn, lion, and crab.
Lockheimer also said that fonts and tech details have been shared with OEMs to include in their updates too.
Forbes reported that the tweet preview suggests that Unicode 8.0 characters will be applied in the Android software update. The 41 new emoji in Unicode 8.0 include a nerd face, face with rolling eyes, robot face, cheese wedge, hot dog, taco, burrito, popcorn, a bottle with a popping cork, a mosque, a synagogue, a cricket bat and ball, a volleyball, bow and arrow, mosque, prayer beads and many more.
