In a CNBC premarket snapshot Tuesday, Apple shares were down 4.4% and Palantir Technologies Inc. shares were down 6% after earnings reports showed a lower margin forecast at Apple and rapid sales growth at Palantir.

The readings were taken before U.S. markets opened and do not represent full-session moves. Both companies released their results after Monday’s close.

Apple reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12% from a year earlier, and diluted earnings of $2.10 per share. Its gross margin was 47.9%, including a benefit of about one percentage point from tariff refunds.

On its earnings call, Apple forecast a gross margin of 45% to 46% for the December quarter. The company said higher memory costs would account for most of the expected decline. It also discussed cloud costs and the timing of revenue recognition for some devices as ways its Siri AI rollout would affect gross margin.

CNBC reported that Apple’s iPad sales missed analysts’ estimates. CNBC quoted Violeta Todorova, senior research analyst at Leverage Shares, as saying management identified memory as the main margin pressure, alongside Siri AI rollout costs. Todorova also warned that memory shortages could constrain Mac and iPad supplies.

Palantir reported third-quarter revenue of $2.313 billion, up 96% from a year earlier. U.S. commercial revenue reached $984 million, exceeding U.S. government revenue of $953 million for the first time. The company raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to between $8.530 billion and $8.534 billion.

The companies’ next reported results will provide measures of Apple’s December-quarter margin forecast and Palantir’s sales outlook. Palantir forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $2.649 billion to $2.653 billion.
