Apple's own smartwatch line is expected to become even more health-friendly with the release of the Apple Watch 5. The rumored device is likely going to debut new health sensors on top of the major improvements that came out last year. Not surprisingly, though, this will come at a higher cost.
The iPhone maker has made an effort to establish its line of wearable devices a smartwatch and not just a fitness tracker. However, in recent years, Apple has also jumped on the bandwagon of adding more health-friendly features and sensors. So advancing those efforts by adding new health features in the Apple Watch 5 would not be that surprising.
However, Apple has yet to dish any clues or official word on what to specifically expect from the Apple Watch 5. But fans if the wearable device should be excited considering the company's achievements in making the smartwatch a health companion. The U.S. Food and Drug Authority (FDA) certified the Apple Watch Series 4 as a device with an electrocardiogram (ECG) feature in late 2018.
One of the highly requested new features on the Apple Watch 5 are native sleep trackers and sensors. Users can now install a third-party app that does the job. But Tom's Guide suggested that incorporating the sleep activity in the Apple Watch rings would be a feature that's hard to skip.
Apple also launched a variant with cellular connectivity last year. It is most likely doing the same for the Apple Watch 5 series this year. However, a 5G connectivity might still be off the table for now.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is known for annually releasing a refreshed Apple Watch lineup. But it is also adding more to the product's price every year. As for the Apple Watch 5, reports expect it to cost starting at $700.
There are no reports yet that Apple could be delaying its usual schedule of events every year. So if no technical and industrial mishaps will happen, the Apple Watch 5 could be launched sometime in September along with the new iPhones.
