Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to come out in 2020 considering that the company has been releasing a new model each year like clockwork since 2015. What’s exciting this time is that the upcoming model might already include a feature that the Apple brand has been lacking, a feature that has already become standard fare in its rivals Fitbit and Samsung.
Might sport a new feature
Apple has been steadily introducing new features into its Apple Watch lineup each year. For instance, the versions that came out in 2019 have built-in compasses and always-on displays. This year, Forbes predicts that the Apple Watch 6 could be sporting a sleep tracking feature, a functionality that has already been offered by the competition.
This was already hinted at by a Bloomberg report last year that claimed Apple tested the feature. The introduction of the sleep tracking feature could further establish the brand in the niche. As of the third quarter of 2019, Apple’s smartwatches account for 47.9 percent of the market while Samsung’s share is 13.4 percent and Fitbit 11.3 percent.
Faster processor
The Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to sport a new processor. This is not a surprise since the product lineup always had a new processor for each new model.
This is actually supported by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo when he claimed that the upcoming Apple Watch will have faster performance. The new device is also reported to sport faster wireless transmission speeds.
Better water resistance
The current generation Apple’s smartwatches already offer some water resistance – owners can already use the watches even while swimming. However, the upcoming model will reportedly come with much-improved water resistance but there are no specifics yet at the moment.
New software
It has always been the norm for Apple to pack its latest smartwatches with the newest software. The Apple Watch 6 will be no exception.
Apple added new health-focused features on last year’s watches such as monitoring activity trends and tracking the female cycle. It should be interesting what the company might come up with this year.
At the moment, there is no official Apple Watch Series 6 release date. However, many believe that it will come out by September, which has been the chosen month for the company’s new releases in the past years.
