Qatar and Pakistan are helping Tehran seek an end to the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Wednesday. The waterway is a major oil route.

The strait normally carries about one-fifth of global oil consumption. Iran has limited shipping through the waterway, while the United States has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports.

Iran says reopening depends on seven demands. They include a ceasefire spanning the Middle East, release of Iranian assets frozen overseas, an end to oil-sector sanctions and removal of the U.S. naval blockade.

Tasnim said Thursday that a letter from U.S. Vice President JD Vance had reached Tehran, which had not answered it. Fars reported the same outcome, citing a person briefed on the exchange. EconoTimes previously covered Tasnim’s account that Iran had not answered Vance’s letter.
