The Browser Company will end Arc desktop service on Mac and Windows Dec. 22, 2026, recommending Dia to users as Arc Search mobile changes begin Nov. 23.

Dia is available as a free download for macOS and Windows, with optional AI features. Users can move passwords, history, tabs, bookmarks and extensions from Arc into Dia. The transfer also includes Spaces and Folders, which Dia organizes as Profiles and Tab Groups, respectively.

Existing desktop users can continue using Arc and receiving basic updates through Dec. 22. New Arc accounts have been unavailable since Oct. 22. The Browser Company’s notice says Arc accounts will be deactivated Dec. 22. It says related personal data will be deleted within 30 days.

Arc Search will lose its AI tools, sign-in and tab syncing on iOS and Android starting Nov. 23. iOS users can still browse the web with the app. Android users will lose access to the app on Dec. 22, when it is removed from Google Play and installed devices.

The company paused work on Arc’s core experience in 2025 but kept Chromium upgrades, security fixes and bug fixes going. It now directs engineering and security work toward Dia.
