‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Stephen Amell Teases Most Violent One-Shot Premiere Episode, Reveals Reappearance of Mystery Character

Stephen Amell plays Oliver Queen a.k.a. Green Arrow on 'Arrow'

‘Arrow’ season 5 will open with the most violent one-shot premiere episode as teased by lead actor Stephen Amell. He also revealed that the incoming season will include the reappearance of a mystery character featured in past seasons.

Amell teased that the incoming season will be unlike any other in the history of television. According to Buddy TV, Amell dropped some details for season 5 during his recent Facebook live stream.

He said, "If [the premiere] is any indication, Arrow is going to be f*cking mean this year… And that's really exciting." When asked if his character will turn to the dark side, he clarified that Green Arrow won’t become evil – just meaner than usual. He added that the season premiere will feature “the most vicious, violent one-shot in the history of network television."

The 35-year old Canadian actor plays Oliver Queen a.k.a. Green Arrow on The CW’s superhero television series ‘Arrow’ as well as in the network’s “Arrowverse” comprising of ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, and ‘Supergirl’. His character is based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name.

Green Arrow was created for the original comic books by Mortimer Weisinger and designed by George Papp. He is depicted as a crime-fighter who dresses like Robin Hood and uses his excellent archery skills to protect the people of Star City. He is also a member of the superhero team The Justice League.

Amell revealed that his costume will be a “slightly modified version” for the incoming season. It is unclear which costume elements he will be ditching or which would be added.

Meanwhile, according to TV Guide, Amell also teased that a key character will be returning to the series. The actor said that this yet unidentified character has not been featured in the last two seasons. Speculations emerged that Amell may have been referring to Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson although this remains unconfirmed.

The article suggested that the mystery character making rheir way back to the show may be David Nykl’s Anatoly Knyazev, Jessica de Gouw’s The Huntress, Colin Salmon’s Walter Steele, or Kelly Hu’s China White.

Meanwhile, more actors have been added to the growing cast of ‘Arrow’ namely Tom Felton of ‘Harry Potter’ fame and Carly Pope of the television series ‘Popular’. Felton, best known for his portrayal of the villainous Draco Malfoy in the ‘Harry Potter’ cinematic series, has been added as series regular. He is set to play a character named Julian Dorn.

Pope will portray Coast City journalist Susan Williams. According to Comicbook.com, Susan is married to Green Lantern Hal Jordan’s younger brother Jim in the original comic books. Her character is set to be introduced in season 5’s third episode. It is unclear whether Green Lantern will also make it on the new season.

‘Arrow’ is an action-drama superhero series that first aired on The CW on October 2012. It was developed for the small screen by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg.

The series was renewed for a fifth season on March 2016, which is scheduled to premiere on October 2016.
