Asian markets marginally higher; gold flat at $1,338

Asian indices were trading on a higher note on Monday. India as well as South Korea’s markets remain closed in the observance on Independence Day. Gold and silver were almost flat on Monday as gold was trading around $1,338 and silver was trading around $19.80 marks.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading at 16,920.42 points.

Shanghai composite index to open up 0.2 pct at 3,056.48 points and China's CSI300 index to open up 0.3 pct at 3,303.47 points. China's CSI300 and SSEC index up over 2 pct.

Hong Kong’s Hang seng was trading 0.75 percent higher at 22,940.15 points.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was trading 0.22 percent higher at 5,542.10 points.

Taiwan stocks open flat at 9,152.36 points.
