BYD Energy Storage plans to add service capacity in South Africa and Bulgaria in 2027, extending local support for battery energy storage system deployments as its network expands.

The planned facilities will join nine existing operations and maintenance (O&M) centers, each covering 2,500 square meters, the company said. Its after-sales network covers China, Chile, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Japan, Poland and the Middle East.

BYD said its service model links station operations and maintenance with project centers, regional centers and global headquarters. The centers store and manage spare parts, repair and maintain batteries, allocate parts regionally, recycle batteries and train locally hired engineers. The company said regional centers comply with local regulations and provide structured workforce training.

A multi-point supply network is intended to speed spare-parts delivery, BYD said. Its operations and maintenance teams also draw on regional resources and local production lines to provide battery repairs. The company’s service standards call for a response within 24 hours, arrival at a site within 48 hours and problem resolution within seven days.

BYD said its service team includes more than 200 field engineers and more than 100 research and development specialists. The company also said it shipped more than 60 gigawatt-hours of battery storage systems in 2025 and had delivered more than 650 storage projects in total. BYD described itself as the leading global shipper of battery storage systems that year.

He Dehong, BYD Energy Storage’s head of global after-sales service, said the network was designed to keep pace with the company’s growing deployments and support the long-term operation of storage assets. The new service centers are planned to open in 2027.
