An Agoria survey cited by VRT found that energy-policy uncertainty is leading six in 10 Belgian nuclear-sector companies to defer investment.
The technology federation says companies want a clear, predictable government strategy for future nuclear projects, including specific decisions and timelines. Agoria CEO Bart Steukers said firms lack clarity on whether officials intend to pursue large-scale nuclear plants or small modular reactors (SMRs).
Steukers said companies also need information on potential sites, when construction could start and which regulatory conditions would apply. He called for “clear decisions” and a schedule so businesses can prepare.
With predictable government policy, Agoria sees potential for 500 additional sector jobs and €3 billion ($3.3 billion) more in turnover over two years. Belgium has pursued a nuclear phase-out over the past two decades, Anadolu reported.
