BitPlay, a Boston-based start-up, has launched the BitPlay Network with three mobile games that can be played on Android platform, namely, Coin Crusher, Coin Flapper and Coin Flapper PRO, on which players can win bitcoin.
The network offers competitive play-offs where gamers face three opponents chosen by BitPlay, along with one-on-one challenges where they compete directly with their friends. On the basis of players' skills and levels of success in tournaments, they can be awarded bitcoin in off-block-chain micro-transactions.
Christopher Hassett, BitPlay's CEO, pointed out that the network sees over a million games played every week, with micro-transactions exceeding 200,000 processed each day for players who have won Bitcoin.
"As a company based upon the Bitcoin economy, we're using games to make it easier for mainstream consumers to acquire Bitcoin using the micro-transactions approach. Micro-transactions, along with its global and certified transactional capabilities, are two core strengths of the Bitcoin technology that make the BitPlay Network a compelling and unique new gaming platform", Hassett added.
