Bitcoin (BTC)’s 30-day average network computing power neared 1.1 zettahashes per second in late October, while miners’ AI data-center shift complicated what the recovery signal showed about mining economics.

Aug. 26 marked the start of the current Hash Ribbon recovery phase. By late October, the 30-day average was about 13% above July. This longer window gives a different snapshot from the network’s separate seven-day average.

Miners are allocating energy capacity, capital and facilities to AI data centers as costs rise. Hash rate captures the network’s computational scale; it does not measure miners’ financial returns, so the recovery alone cannot establish whether mining has become more economically attractive.

The seven-day average reached 1,031.61 exahashes per second on Oct. 17, its highest reading since May 29. EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the weekly average and miner holdings reported the figure alongside a 379 BTC increase in miners’ combined holdings.
