BitcoinTreasuries counted about 4.22 million Bitcoin (BTC) across five categories on Oct. 26, a broad tally whose fund and exchange balances include coins held for investors and users.
Funds and exchanges held 1,615,524 BTC, the largest category. Public companies held 1,296,085 BTC across 201 tracked holders, while 68 private companies held 284,652 BTC. Decentralized finance and other holdings accounted for 374,559 BTC.
The tracker’s government entities category totaled 645,609 BTC, including 46,351 BTC attributed to Ukrainian public officials. The United States had the largest recorded government balance at 328,372 BTC, followed by China at 190,000 BTC and the United Kingdom at 61,245 BTC.
Strategy led the public-company list with 848,517 BTC. Metaplanet Inc. followed with 44,000 BTC, ahead of Twenty One Capital with 43,514 BTC and Strive with 43,000 BTC. Among listed funds, iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) held 811,115 BTC, Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund held 184,058 BTC and Grayscale Bitcoin Trust held 131,528 BTC.
The earlier EconoTimes breakdown of the Oct. 19 snapshot put the five-category total at 4,202,944 BTC. It listed 1,610,446 BTC with funds and exchanges and 1,286,722 BTC at public companies. IBIT’s recorded balance was 806,037 BTC, while Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund was listed at 184,058 BTC.
The Oct. 26 total is higher, but the two snapshots do not establish whether holders bought or sold Bitcoin. Company figures reflect corporate holdings; fund and exchange balances can include assets held for investors and users. The combined figure therefore does not represent Bitcoin owned outright by institutions.
