Bitcoin (BTC) and XRP traded near $78,198 and $1.25, respectively, in a Nov. 2 check, as fund outflows and Binance’s breach recovery shaped attention ahead of the U.S. midterm vote.
CoinGecko displayed those prices at 4:19 a.m. ET (09:19 UTC). The U.S. Postal Service’s election schedule lists all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats for Nov. 3.
Farside Investors recorded $643.2 million in net outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin funds during the Oct. 30 trading session. Its rounded daily figures add up to $202.4 million in net outflows across the five sessions from Oct. 26 through Oct. 30.
Binance said its hot wallets were compromised at about 4:05 p.m. ET (20:05 UTC) on Oct. 29, resulting in the loss of approximately $6.3 billion in tokens. In a Nov. 1 update, the exchange said company resources had covered roughly 95% of the affected amount. Binance said it was preparing to restore withdrawals in phases and would absorb the financial impact rather than pass the loss to users. Its investigation was still underway.
Alternative.me’s Fear & Greed Index registered 37, classified as “Fear,” in a Nov. 2 check. The provider says its current index measures Bitcoin sentiment, not XRP sentiment separately.
Past midterm results offer mixed comparisons. An analysis by XWIN Japan published on CryptoQuant found that Bitcoin fell 45.5% in the first month after the 2018 vote, but gained over the 12 months following each of the 2014, 2018 and 2022 midterms. XWIN Japan said those three observations do not establish a reliable price pattern.
The U.S. election is scheduled for Nov. 3. Binance said full proof supporting its Oct. 31 reserves snapshot was expected by Nov. 3 UTC.
