With a dozen episodes left for the second season of “Black Clover,” some fans might be wondering about the state of “Black Clover” season 3. Apart from the question of whether or not a third season is in the making, viewers are likely curious if the series bound to a lengthy hiatus.
Episode 39 of season 2 (90th installment overall) is slated to air next week. The official site of the franchise is currently listing a total of 102 episodes for the anime series, that means the second season will have a total of 51 episodes as well. It also means that the wait for “Black Clover” season 3 will begin by the end of September.
Fans will notice that the possible season 2 finale will be released around the same time that season 1 ended in 2018. The manga series, on the other hand, rarely takes any break. But in case there are no filler episodes down the road, season 2 could end having covered around chapter 163 of the manga. Since chapter 210 is just about to be released next week, it means there could be more or less than 40 chapters left before “Black Clover” season 3 begins.
That is not much, to begin with, if Pierrot is going to start working on “Black Clover” season 3 very soon. While the anime series is known for having fillers here and there, fans appreciate it for having a relatively stable schedule. It rarely takes long breaks unless a major event is coming up like when Asta’s demon form was to debut in the anime series. When season 1 ended, the second season premiered the following week.
The anime series has officially caught up with the current story arc in the manga. But it does not seem like producers will run out for source materials for the anime anytime. And since season 2 will not cover the entire current arc, it is one very telling clue that “Black Clover” season 3 will be ordered and would likely start within this year as well.
