With only weeks left before the premiere of “Black Mirror” season 5, Netflix released its official trailer revealing that another Marvel Cinematic Universe actor is joining the series. Meanwhile, talks on a possible season 6 episode are already making headlines.
Miley Cyrus was reported to have a role in “Black Mirror” season 5 for several months, but it was not confirmed until the official trailer was released earlier this month. A week ago, it was also announced that “Captain America: Winter Soldier” star Anthony Mackie and “Aquaman” actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are featured in one of the three upcoming episodes.
The release of “Black Mirror” season 5 trailer also confirmed that actress Pom Klementieff, known as Mantis in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” is part of the sci-fi anthology series. The Marvel star plays like a fighter in what seems like a real-life “Mortal Kombat” revealed in the latter part of the trailer.
An earlier released photo teaser confirmed that Mackie and Abdul-Mateen are part of the same “Black Mirror” season 5 episode. Mackie is either married or in a long-term relationship with Nicole Beharie’s character, who seems to be sneaking around dating apps. Later in the trailer, Mackie is seen wearing a silver device that presumably puts him in a virtual reality state.
Meanwhile, Deadline published an interview with “Black Mirror” season 5 co-showrunners Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones on Monday. They have both confirmed that the first musical episode of the sci-fi series might become part of season 6.
However, Brooker confirmed that nothing much had been finalized about it yet that is understandable since “Black Mirror” season 5 has not even aired yet. “We have had conversations about what a musical version of ‘Black Mirror’ might look like. That has been a part of our conversations,” Brooker said. “Who knows? The musical version of ‘Black Mirror’ might already be in the next season.” New episodes will start streaming on Netflix on June 5.
