The making of “Black Panther 2” is a sealed deal just by judging from how well the first movie performed in the box office. One of the questions now is who will be the next enemy of Wakanda? Some fans hope it would be an original villain from the comic books such as Achebe.
Avid Marvel comic book fans will immediately recognize Achebe because he is one of the most widely known enemies of Black Panther in the original series. Marvel Cinematic Universe has only scratched the surface of Wakanda leaving more room to explore Chadwick Boseman’s titular character as well as his potential enemies. This leads to plot predictions that “Black Panther 2” will introduce Achebe.
Even to this day, the comic books left many mysteries around Achebe’s character including his real identity. What the original series has are tales and legends about Achebe’s origins including the fact he has sold his soul to the devil. Once MCU decides to bring this character to “Black Panther 2,” they have the option to keep it this way or provide more details to build up the role as a worthy nemesis to T’Challa.
In the comic books, Achebe’s existence coincides with the timeline of Killmonger’s (Michael B. Jordan) arrival in Wakanda. However, there is still enough premise to introduce Achebe in “Black Panther 2.” One known detail about Achebe is that he comes from a neighboring country of Wakanda, called Ghudaza.
After Ghudaza suffered devastation from civil wars and intervention from plunderers and outside forces, T’Challa agreed to welcome Ghudazian refugees including Achebe. But he only used this to design a coup against the king of Wakanda that could also provide a very interesting plot to “Black Panther 2.”
Meanwhile, it is also important to note that “Black Panther 2” is part of MCU’s Phase 4 film lineup. So introducing Achebe and the premise that comes with it should tie in with other upcoming Marvel films.
Ryan Coogler is confirmed to return to direct the sequel while Boseman reprises his role as the king and superhero of Wakanda. “Black Panther 2” is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.
