Blockchain.com has introduced options on seven crypto assets for eligible users, expanding its derivatives offering with short-term contracts that buyers must hold until expiry.
The company announced the launch Oct. 20. Contracts are available on Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), XRP, TRON (TRX), Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX) and Hyperliquid (HYPE). Users can choose a call or a put, set a target price and trade amount, and select an expiry of up to one week.
The contracts are funded in USDC. Any payout is also settled in USDC rather than through delivery of the crypto asset named in the contract. Buyers cannot sell or close a position before it expires. Settlement follows expiry and may be delayed under the terms.
The minimum premium is $5 before fees. If a contract expires without a payout, the buyer loses the premium and an upfront fee. Blockchain.com sets premiums that include a spread and charges a separate settlement fee only when the gross payout exceeds the premium.
Blockchain.com (BVI) II Limited is the sole counterparty to the contracts, according to the options agreement. That arrangement puts the company on the other side of each buyer’s position while giving it control over the quoted premium and spread.
The launch adds another derivatives product to Blockchain.com’s offering. In April, the company introduced access to perpetual futures through its DeFi wallet.
