The “Blue Bloods” season 9 preview trailer leaned heavily on Danny Reagan's (Donnie Wahlberg) slowly developing story arc of his conflict with Lou Diamond Phillips's Louis Delgado. Fans may know that Danny may be out for Delgado's blood as the detective believes the drug cartel member to be responsible, or at least connected, to the burning down of Danny Reagan's house. Since Phillips's Delgado is shaping up to be a solid series antagonist, there may be other members of the Reagan family whom Danny stands to lose to the potential villain.
Fans know that Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie's (Vanessa Ray) engagement is a hot-button topic for Tom Selleck's Frank Reagan. While Frank approves of Jamie and Eddie's relationship, he does not like the idea of having a husband and wife team on the beat. The “Blue Bloods” season 9 premiere trailer show's a worried Jamie screaming out his fiance's name as the danger of a burning house is set in the video's background.
It seems that Frank Reagan's worst fears are about to come to fruition even before Jamie and Eddie are able to officialize their commitment to each other. But fans who are worried that Vanessa Ray's Eddie might suddenly leave the show if her character suddenly dies in “Blue Bloods” season 9 don't have to fret.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Blue Bloods” season 9 showrunner Kevin Wade mentions that they still have plans to explore Jamie and Eddie's relationship as an engaged couple in the police force. This includes the results of the sergeant's exam that Eddie took in the previous season. Wade assures fans that there is enough mileage between Jamko to make sure that they both stick around for “Blue Bloods” season 9.
Fans of the show can look forward to “Blue Bloods” season 9 airing its premiere episode on Sept. 28.
