Eva Geller, 90, who was wounded in the Dec. 14, 2025, attack on a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, died in hospital nearly a year later, The Guardian reported Friday, citing a senior Jewish community source.
The source said Geller continued to receive hospital treatment this year for her attack wounds. She returned to hospital after developing an infection and died after suffering a stroke, the source told the newspaper.
New South Wales police said they were working with the coroner’s office and awaiting further advice.
Rabbi Aron Moss of Sydney’s Nefesh Synagogue told The Guardian that Geller escaped the Holocaust as a child with her family and was loved by the community. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Geller’s life was “changed forever by an act of terror and antisemitism.”
The Guardian reported that Geller’s funeral was scheduled for Monday and that a family spokesperson asked for privacy.
