Boralex announced the acquisition of Wind2, adding about 350 megawatts of advanced wind projects to its U.K. development portfolio as it expands its business in the market.
The projects span Scotland, England and Wales. Boralex described them as well-advanced wind projects but did not identify them as operating generation capacity. The announced deal also includes Wind2 teams based in two U.K. offices.
Wind2 develops onshore renewable energy, including solar farms and energy parks alongside its wind projects. The developer was founded in 2016. Boralex said it has been active in the U.K. for nearly 10 years.
Boralex reported a U.K. development pipeline of 1.7 gigawatts. Its announcement does not clarify whether that figure includes Wind2’s approximately 350 MW portfolio. The company said it is building two wind and energy-storage assets with combined installed capacity of 73 MW. It commissioned the 106 MW Limekiln Wind Farm in April 2025, which Boralex identified as a milestone in its U.K. expansion.
The figures describe different measures: Wind2’s figure refers to advanced projects, while 73 MW is the installed capacity of assets under construction and 106 MW is the capacity of a commissioned wind farm. They do not form a single operating-capacity total.
Boralex said a broader geographic footprint would support business resilience. It sees significant growth potential in the U.K. and cited collaboration with host communities as part of its development approach.
Esbjorn Wilmar, Boralex’s vice president for the United Kingdom, said Wind2’s projects would strengthen the company’s local development business. He said the incoming team’s expertise complements Boralex’s capabilities. The announcement did not disclose a purchase price.
