Onoki’s betrayal in the current Mitsuki arc is just one of the many surprising developments in this particular filler event. It was already discussed before that the old ninja believes that he is doing what he must for the good of the whole world. This was further elaborated in the previous episode when he explained how he wanted to prevent young ninjas like Boruto from dying senseless deaths. Will he attempt to accomplish his goals by trying to kill the young genin in “Boruto” Episode 85?
At this point, there is no point in denying that Onoki is capable of killing Boruto in order to silence him along with his friends. It’s clear that the old ninja is not yet ready to carry out his plans and a talkative witness would be very inconvenient for him. That’s why he might just carry out the heinous deed in “Boruto” Episode 85.
On that note, there are no guarantees with regards to what will occur in “Boruto” Episode 85. After all, it’s pointless to speculate as to whether or not Onoki will kill Boruto because he will obviously fail. Besides, this is a filler arc, so nothing that will impact the main storyline is likely to occur.
Speaking of which, though, it was quite the surprise to a lot of viewers when it was revealed that Lord Ku is actually an artificial being, himself. Before this information was dropped, it was largely speculated that perhaps Onoki might be the one being controlled. Now, all hopes of the old ally of Naruto being innocent has been dashed and “Boruto” Episode 85 will likely be the final nail in the coffin.
Fans can find this out for themselves when “Boruto’ Episode 85 airs on Dec. 9. Will this arc actually have a profound impact on Boruto and his friends or will it simply be forgotten?
