A political hell has broken out in the United Kingdom after the High court of the United Kingdom ruled that the government needs parliamentary approval in order to trigger Article 50, which is the divorce clause in the Lisbon treaty and needs to be triggered in order to break away from the Union. After the court’s move, Europhiles cheered and vowed to work to secure either a stay inside the European Union or a second referendum. The opposition Labor party leader Jeremy Corbyn has asked the government to put its options on the table immediately and without delay. Mr. Corbyn, in an interview on Sunday, said that he would not support Mrs. May in the parliamentary vote for the Article 50, unless his bottom lines that include full access to the single market and protection of worker rights are adopted by the government. He, however, stressed that he doesn’t intend to block the Article 50, saying, “There must be transparency and accountability on Brexit terms. We won’t block Article 50 but will fight for a Brexit that works for Britain.”
Mrs. May has kept the defiant tone saying that the people have spoken; it was legal and gives the government green signal to move ahead. She has called on the Europhiles to accept the decision of the people and said that it could be a new beginning for Britain which can succeed in building new relationships around the world.
