Burger King in Puerto Rico is being operated by Restaurant Holding Company (RHC), and it has acquired exclusive rights to develop and expand the Popeyes Louisiana fried chicken brand in the country.
Aside from Burger King, RHC is also running Firehouse Subs restaurant chain in Puerto Rico, and apparently, the company is adding more brands to its restaurant portfolio. This time, it will venture into growing Popeyes that first opened in the region in 2005.
According to El Nuevo Dia, the agreement states that the Burger King operator will be launching a number of new Popeyes stores across the said Caribbean island. The deal also marks RHC’s latest efforts in widening its footprint in QSR business in the territory.
“We have before us an excellent development opportunity and we are excited to see a great future for the Popeyes chain in Puerto Rico,” Burger King Puerto Rico and RHC’s chief executive officer, Aniceto Solares, said in a statement. “For this, we seek to capitalize on the structure and knowledge that we have developed for decades with the Burger King and Firehouse Subs brands to serve the consumer with excellence the fried chicken that distinguishes Popeyes.”
Solares added that he and the team are proud to have Popeyes and take it to the next level while being part of its advancement as a recognized brand. The CEO further said he is especially delighted with the agreement because they are not just able to offer customers the iconic flavors of Popeyes but they are also contributing a lot to Puerto Rico’s economy through generating jobs for the people.
RHC is running major fast-food brands in the region, and now, in addition to Burger King and Firehouse Subs, it will also be managing Popeye’s Puerto Rico from now on. Its expansion through the friend chicken chain will definitely generate thousands of new jobs once again. Currently, RHC has 174 restaurants and already employs over 5,000 people.
“We are delighted to partner with RHC, a solid operator with a track record of excellence, to further expand our brand in Puerto Rico,” Popeyes Latin America and the Caribbean’s general manager Rafael Serer, said.
Finally, Sin Comillas mentioned that all of the restaurant brands that RHC is operating in Puerto Rico are primarily owned by Restaurant Brands International Inc. It has restaurants, including Tim Hortons, in more than 100 countries worldwide.
