Compound (COMP), the lending protocol's governance token, rose 27.3% in the 24 hours through 1 p.m. ET Oct. 20, The Defiant reported, while DefiLlama data show the protocol's locked value remained below its Sept. 30 level.
COMP reached $27.38 in The Defiant's calculation. In the same calculation, Bitcoin (BTC) gained 0.96% and Ether (ETH) rose 2.05%. COMP's gains over seven and 28 days were 18.65% and 20.55%, respectively, exceeding Bitcoin's and Ether's returns over both periods, the outlet's comparison showed.
DefiLlama's daily figures show Compound Finance had $1.5 billion in total value locked on Oct. 20, down from $1.613 billion on Sept. 30. Total value locked measures the dollar value of assets held in a protocol, while COMP's price tracks the value of its governance token.
Compound's governance documentation says token holders can delegate voting rights over protocol changes. The Defiant reported that the reason for COMP's rise was unclear.
