Omaha, Neb., Nov. 14, 2017 -- COR Clearing LLC, the leading independent, full-service clearing firm serving U.S. middle-market brokerages, today announced the addition of portfolio margin accounts to its broad service offerings to introducing firms. Portfolio margin accounts allow customers to get more trading leverage on their portfolios, hedge risk and improve day-trading functionality.
Designed to lower margin requirements and increase account leverage, portfolio margin is a risk-based margin policy that allows qualified investors to align margin requirements with the overall risk of a portfolio instead of looking to individual security positions to determine margin availability. Accounts approved for portfolio margin are monitored through a real-time risk system.
COR has set the required minimum account balance for portfolio margin access at $125,000, placing the benefits of portfolio margin easily in reach of smaller introduced accounts.
COR’s portfolio margin accounts will also offer access to robust trading platforms Sterling Trader Pro and Sterling Trader Elite. Sterling Trading Tech (STT) is a leading technology provider of trading platforms and risk technology for the active and institutional trading community.
“We are focused on providing our introducing brokers with the tools and capabilities they need to compete against the wirehouses and large online platforms. Our model is to help the middle-market brokerage punch above its weight by providing access to markets and technologies usually reserved for the larger industry participants,” COR Clearing CEO Carlos P. Salas said. “We have a healthy build schedule and will be announcing additional new clearing services in the coming weeks, including expanded investment advisory and foreign securities capabilities.”
COR Clearing provides clearing and settlement, as well as related technology, administrative and other services through multiple customized platforms to allow introducing firms to focus on growing their businesses.
