Sledgehammer Games has not even released this year’s “Call of Duty” game, but reports are already rife that next year’s iteration will be “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.” New information has been leaked, though, it is something that avid gamers might not want to hear about the 2022 title.
Fans of the “Call of Duty” franchise have been asking Activision to release a follow-up to the acclaimed “Modern Warfare.” So many fans were delighted when it was reported last month that the 2022 “Call of Duty” installment would be “Modern Warfare 2.”
Noted leaker Tom Henderson recently updated his Twitter followers, saying he will have more information to report about “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” next week. For now, though, he gave gaming fans something to discuss for the weekend after claiming that the 2022 game will still have the disputed skill-based matchmaking or SBMM.

It's sounds like it's going to tick all the boxes (apart from SBMM but what can you do) for a CoD title. I just hope they can execute it.
Matchmaking is one of the staple features of most online multiplayer games. Developers use different factors for their matchmaking algorithm, which may include players’ ranking, server, or connection. But studios do not often divulge all the information on the factors they use for matchmaking.
Many gamers believe that “Call of Duty” uses SBMM, which means the games might emphasize players’ stats in matchmaking. That means less-skilled players are more likely to play against others on the same level, and the same goes for highly-skilled gamers.
Fans argue that SBMM is disadvantageous for highly-skilled players because they can no longer simply enjoy the game if they are always matched up against equally good or better players. Others say that SBMM might only benefit so-called casual gamers because they do not have to put more effort into their matches. With “Call of Duty: Vanguard” launching on Nov. 5, Activision or the studios involved in developing the rumored “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” are unlikely to address the rumored use of SBMM.
Meanwhile, Henderson also hinted that the 2022 game is looking promising as it appears “to tick all the boxes for a CoD title.” As the leaker said, more details could be revealed about “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” in the coming days.
