The highly anticipated “Call of Duty: Vanguard” is launching soon, and developers have revealed the official schedule when players can start preloading the game. The download size and full game size of the game on PlayStation and Xbox consoles were also announced to help console gamers prepare for its arrival.
One of the perks of pre-ordering “Call of Duty: Vanguard” is the ability to preload it a week before it launches. Those who have pre-ordered digital versions of the game will be able to start preloading the game this week.
“Call of Duty: Vanguard” preload begins on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 9 p.m. PT or Friday, Oct. 29, 12 a.m. ET for players in North and South America. But the announcement post indicates that Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S anywhere in the world can start preloading at the same time. Meanwhile, fans in other regions using other gaming platforms can start preloading on Oct. 29 at midnight in their local time zones.
“If you purchased a digital version of the game but it does not download during the preload period, visit your platform’s first-party store and follow the prompts to begin the download,” the developers said. Console gamers are also advised to update their gaming systems to the latest firmware available to avoid issues when preloading “Call of Duty: Vanguard.”
File sizes are another important detail to keep in mind, especially for those playing on consoles. At preload, “Call of Duty: Vanguard” will require 64.13GB on PS5, 54.65GB on PS4. But the game’s required spaces in these systems are 89.84GB and 93.12GB, respectively.
The “Call of Duty: Vanguard” download sizes and required spaces are similar on Xbox systems. The game will need 61GB on Xbox Series X/S and 56.6GB on Xbox One. “Players can choose to manage storage space and reduce the game’s overall file size during or after the pre-load,” Sledgehammer Games noted.
Preloading “Call of Duty: Vanguard” on PC will not be available until Tuesday, Nov. 2. PC gamers will have to wait for further announcements to learn about the game’s PC system requirements. But Sledgehammer confirmed there will be a 30 to 50 percent file size difference on next-gen consoles and PC compared to previous “Call of Duty” games “due to new on-demand texture streaming tech.” “Call of Duty: Vanguard” will be released on Friday, Nov. 5.
