Carrie Underwood recently appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to talk about her recent pregnancy with her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher. But during the interview, Ellen DeGeneres asked about how Underwood has felt since the “Cry Pretty” singer recovered from an accident that happened in her own home last year.
Two days after hosting the 2017 CMA Awards, Carrie Underwood fell down the front steps of her home in Tennessee. The accident resulted in a broken wrist and over 40 stitches to Carrie Underwood's face. Carrie Underwood revealed the details of her accident to her fan club early in 2018 after her recovery.
According to Carrie Underwood, the incident occurred when she tripped while on her way out of her home to take her dogs for a walk. Underwood described the incident as a “freak accident” considering that the aftermath required her to get serious stitches on her face. Underwood mentioned that she missed a step and was unfortunately unable to let go of the dogs' leashes
Carrie Underwood confessed to DeGeneres that she felt her face looked different after her accident. Carrie Underwood already expressed the same sentiments that she was afraid that the accident may have done serious damage to her face in an interview with Today's Hoda Kotb, who noted that Underwood more or less looked the same after the accident.
Carrie Underwood shared that it was this worry about significant changes to her face that led her to go public about the accident's details. Underwood specifically mentioned being worried about people thinking she had chosen to have cosmetic surgery if she did not go public about the details of her late 2017 accident. By going public with the accident, Carrie Underwood was able to make the statement that if her appearance changed, it was not her choice.
