French retailer Casino Group introduced PLESIO as its corporate identity on Oct. 20, distinguishing the parent from its Casino stores while leaving a registered-name change for shareholders to decide in 2027.

Its seven retail brands will keep their existing names: Monoprix, Franprix, Naturalia, Cdiscount, Spar, Vival and Casino. The company said it had 25,000 employees and nearly 6,500 stores, and reported €12.5 billion in business volume for 2025.

Casino Group said convenience retail has been central to its strategy since 2024. Its Renouveau 2030 plan focuses on daily food shopping, quick meal options and everyday services. The company said it chose PLESIO, a name derived from the Greek word for closeness, to reflect its focus on the needs of local communities.

Using PLESIO for the group gives the parent a separate identity from the Casino chain without renaming its stores. The company said the new identity brings together brands with distinct retail offerings. It plans to share resources and expertise among them as they develop store concepts, refurbish locations and broaden their meal and service offerings.

The group also plans to increase its support for franchise operators while allowing them to manage their own shops. PLESIO CEO Philippe Palazzi said the company aims to expand store concepts, quick meal options and services and give franchise partners more support.

The company plans to introduce PLESIO across its internal and external communications over time. Shareholders are expected to consider formal approval of the registered-name change at a general meeting in 2027.
