Arlington, VA, March 02, 2017 -- Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE: RST), a leader in technology-based language and literacy solutions, is kicking-off its 25th Anniversary Celebration by designating March as “Language Learning Month.” The celebration will continue throughout 2017 with activities that highlight the importance of language education and share stories from some of the millions of learners who found a new voice through Rosetta Stone.
Language Learning Month commenced with Rosetta Stone announcing its participation as a key sponsor in the Lead with Languages campaign earlier this week. Led by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Lead with Languages is an unprecedented, multi-year effort aimed at reversing the nation’s language skills gap and making language proficiency a national priority. Rosetta Stone will work with ACTFL to build awareness about the importance of language skills in 21st century careers and support a new generation of Americans as they become competent in other languages and cultures—equipped to compete and succeed in a global economy.
“We think it’s only fitting that Rosetta Stone’s 25th anniversary coincides with our sponsorship of this groundbreaking campaign. Today’s teachers are instrumental in shaping tomorrow’s global citizens—so let’s ensure that students have access to language programs that develop key skills they will need to communicate effectively,” said John Hass, Chief Executive Officer, Rosetta Stone.
During March, Rosetta Stone is providing teachers with various engaging activities to use in their classrooms. Language Learning Month will be followed by an education roundtable event in the Washington, DC area hosted by Rosetta Stone that will bring together key stakeholders in education and business. They will join in a conversation about our nation’s foreign language deficit, challenges school districts face to equip students with foreign language skills, and the importance of creating a multilingual workforce. The event will take place in the spring and be simulcast live online.
