North Korea’s launch of 12 short-range ballistic missiles prompted an emergency meeting in Seoul on Thursday, with the presidential National Security Office saying the firing violated U.N. Security Council resolutions.
Cheong Wa Dae, South Korea’s presidential office, said its Office of National Security convened the meeting to assess the launch. Officials from the defense ministry attended alongside Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) personnel, Cheong Wa Dae said. The missiles were fired toward the East Sea.
The office called on Pyongyang to end its missile provocations and said Seoul should take all necessary measures in response. The JCS placed the launch in the Wonsan area.
Cheong Wa Dae cited North Korea’s Oct. 12 missile firing as the previous launch, about two weeks before the latest incident.
