‘Chicago Med’ Season 2, Episode 9 Spoilers: “Uncharted Territory” – Dr. Charles Struggles to Make Critical Decision Over Patient in Need of Urgent Heart Transplant

‘Chicago Med’ season 2’s episode 9, titled “Uncharted Territory,” is set to follow Dr. Charles as he struggles to make a critical decision regarding a patient in need of urgent heart transplant. He is set to have a disagreement with Dr. Rhodes over the case.

The synopsis for “Uncharted Territory” posted on TV Guide reads, “Two MMA fighters arrive at Chicago Med in poor shape. Meanwhile, Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) must evaluate a patient as a possible heart recipient; Jeff (Jeff Hephner) makes a confession; Dr. Stohl (Eddie Jemison) returns from his sabbatical leave; and April (Yaya DaCosta) faces a setback.”

According to IMDB, Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) is set to learn an important lesson in the process of treating two MMA fighters in poor condition upon their admission to the Emergency Room department of Chicago Med.

Meanwhile, the incoming episode is set to feature two of the show’s skilled doctors clashing over a decision regarding a patient, who needs an urgent heart transplant. The promo shows Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) is set to assign Dr. Daniel Charles with evaluating a patient in need of an urgent heart transplant.

Dr. Charles and his colleague Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) are then seen disagreeing over the case. Dr. Rhodes believes that the patient may die if she doesn’t receive a new heart immediately. Dr. Charles tells Dr. Rhodes, “Someone’s gotta make the tough decisions here. I’d thank you to let me do my job,” to which Dr. Rhodes insists, “If she doesn’t get a heart, she dies.”

According to Yahoo! Sports, Dr. Stohl is also set to return to the hospital after his sabbatical. Upon his arrival, he offers his medical opinion on the treatment of a patient under the care of Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss).

Meanwhile, Yaya is set to face more difficulties following her diagnosis of a rare form of tuberculosis. It seems that a medicine included in her treatment plan may affect her unborn child. Medican student Jeff will also make a confession to his lover Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).

‘Chicago Med’ season 2’s episode 9, titled “Uncharted Territory,” is scheduled to premiere on NBC on January 5, 2017. It will be followed by episode 10, titled "Heart Matters," scheduled for January 12.
