Children’s Dental & Vision Center and Amerigroup Bring Preventative Health Resources for Local Topeka Children

Topeka, Kansas, March 16, 2018 -- March 16, 2018 (Topeka, Kan.) – Access to affordable dental services for children continues to be an under met need in the United States. Lower-income and minority children are far less likely to have routine dental checkups and suffer disproportionate rates of tooth decay with 80 percent of cavities in permanent teeth impacting just 25 percent of U.S. children. This is why Adventure Dental & Vision, a leading provider of high-quality dental and vision care for children in Topeka, hosted a Wellness Day for Amerigroup members today.

Through this event, Adventure Dental & Vision Center along with Amerigroup provided access to comprehensive dental and vision care as well as other health and wellness resources including healthy eating recipes and snacks, children’s blood pressure screenings, “Ask a Nurse” and more. “Ask a Nurse” provided nurses onsite to answer questions parents might have about their child's health care.

• “Ask a Nurse” services from onsite nurses who answered commonly asked questions about child wellness
• Children’s blood pressure screenings from the Health Department
• Healthy eating tips, snacks and recipes from K-State Research and extension office
