Chipotle is set to launch the new "Keithadilla" fajita menu option on Thursday, March 2. The Mexican Grill restaurant chain picked up the food item after it went viral on TikTok.
It can be said that Chipotle took inspiration from the short-form video hosting platform to make the new Fajita Quesadilla. The Keithadilla was originally a menu hack that was created by Keith lee and Alexis Frost, who are huge celebrities on TikTok.
As per Restaurant Business, the food item will only be available as a digital order, and it is made with the meat preference of the customer, Monterey Jack cheese, and fajita veggies. The Keithadilla is served with a side option of Honey Vinaigrette dressing. Customers can also choose sour cream or Roasted chili corn salsa.
Chipotle will offer another version of this TikTok hit menu, and this was named the Fajita Quesadilla Hack. It is made with steak and served with different side options: sour cream, Roasted Chili-Corn Salsa, or Tomatillo-Red Chili Salsa.
It was last year when the restaurant's steak quesadilla with fajita veggies went viral on the Chinese short video-sharing platform. Frost posted a review for this food item and apparently, many of her 2.4 million followers viewed the clip and shared it as well.
Keith Lee then created a follow-up TikTok video where he tried the quesadilla veggie hack, but this time, he added the honey vinaigrette as a dipping. He also mixed sour cream and vinaigrette, which earned a 10 out of 10 rating. The videos received over 30 million views, and Chipotle saw an opportunity from the viral hack.
"TikTok has not only changed the way we communicate with Gen Z but it is proven it can identify areas of opportunity within our business," Chipotle's chief marketing officer, Chris Brandt, said in a press release. "With the launch of the Fajita Quesadilla, we are celebrating Keith, Alexis, and all our superfans who were craving this delicious customization while prioritizing support for our employees."
