City Union Bank, an Indian lender, reported a 26.6% rise in standalone quarterly profit on Wednesday, alongside lower bad-loan ratios and higher provisions for the period ended Sept. 30.

Net profit for the quarter was ₹415.91 crore, compared with ₹328.59 crore in the same period last year, according to unaudited standalone results the board approved Oct. 28. The filing covers the quarter and half-year ended Sept. 30, 2026, and says the bank had no subsidiaries, associates or joint ventures on that date.

Interest earned totaled ₹2,092.25 crore, while interest expended was ₹1,219.49 crore. The difference left net interest income of ₹872.76 crore for the quarter, calculated from the two figures in the filing.

The bank’s reported asset-quality measures improved from June 30. Gross nonperforming assets were 1.44% of advances at Sept. 30, down from 1.73% three months earlier; net nonperforming assets fell to 0.48% from 0.61% over the same dates.

Provisions and contingencies reached ₹120 crore, compared with ₹57 crore a year earlier. The filing says the latest total includes a ₹50 crore contingent provision for “unforeseen economic uncertainties.” That amount is part of the ₹120 crore total, not an additional charge.

NDTV Profit reported that shares traded at ₹232.19 on the National Stock Exchange of India at 2:42 a.m. ET (06:42 UTC) Wednesday, up 8.95% from the previous close of ₹213.12. The report gave an intraday price snapshot.

The statutory central auditors conducted a limited review of the unaudited results. In their review statement, P.B. Vijayaraghavan & Co. and M. Srinivasan & Associates said “nothing has come to our attention” to suggest a material misstatement. The bank’s investor relations calendar lists a Q2 FY2027 earnings conference call with Ambit Capital for Oct. 28.
