“Code Geass” Season 3 will not be happening but in its place will stand an upcoming film for the franchise. Called “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection,” the movie heavily diverts from the events that occurred in the anime series.
While “Code Geass” Season 3 would’ve explored the story without Lelouch, the upcoming film will follow the opposite path and have the main character take the spotlight once more. True to its title, the movie will be centered in the revival of Lelouch with Shirley playing a major part in this regard, Foxen Anime reported.
What’s more, it’s being rumored that Shirley will be given her own Geass thanks to an unknown agreement between her and C2. This will certainly be an interesting development to follow since the anime used Shirley to mainly fuel the motivation of Lelouch. Of course, some fans aren’t too keen to explore this narrative as it tangles everything that has occurred. However, director Goro Taniguchi said that the film is not supposed to clash with the events that would’ve taken place in “Code Geass” Season 3, Comicbook reported.
Rather, the movie has been made to provide another avenue for the story that has yet been scrutinized. Screenplay writer Ichiro Okouchi assured fans who were hoping for a “Code Geass” Season 3 that the film will deliver a story that is both gripping and satisfying. He cited that the character interaction in the movie will be a major hook for the audience, something that he himself has seen firsthand.
“I myself had the privilege to watch the movie at the preview screening, and I was deeply impressed by various things. While watching, I was thinking things like, ‘Oh, they’re the guys from those days… Eh? But it seems they’ve changed a bit, haven’t they…’ Somehow just watching the faces I’ve not seen for a long time on a big screen was already fun,” Okouchi said. Those who are curious what’s going to take place in the film should ready themselves as it’s been slated to drop tomorrow. As for the possibility of a “Code Geass” Season 3, no news has been announced yet but it’s safe to say that it will not occur given that Lelouch has died in that timeline.
