Researchers at Tim Marr identify the best deals on the most popular consumer products for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. By driving more shoppers online through extended sales periods, total spending during Cyber Monday 2017 is on track to reach new heights. Sales figures for Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2017 are forecast to be up 4.5% on last year whilst retail sales for the full sales season, November to January, are likely to breach the $1 trillion mark.
Originally Black Friday was a 24 hour sales event with shoppers queueing for hours to access discounts at brick and mortar stores. In recent years e-commerce has made up an ever greater share of Black Friday sales. According to the NRF over half of total spending during Black Friday 2016 was online. Last year was the first time that e-commerce sales outpaced spending in stores, demonstrating the significance of the web in driving sales.
When are Black Friday sales at their peak? The biggest retailers began their deals on the week starting 20th November and will end their sales shortly after Cyber Monday.
