DETROIT, Dec. 08, 2016 -- Compuware Corporation, the world’s leading mainframe-dedicated software company, today announced it has been named to Database Trends and Applications’ “Trend-Setting Products for 2017” list. These products, platforms, and services range from widely accepted offerings that continue to evolve to meet the needs of their loyal following, to breakthrough technologies that have just released and are in the early stages of adoption. However, they all seek to arm organizations with tools to address rapidly changing market requirements and represent a commitment to innovation.
“Competitive advantage in engaging customers in the digital age is achieved by turning ideas that matter into deliverables that make a difference both quickly and continuously. Delivering digital ideas often includes a transactional component executed on the mainframe systems-of-record,” says Christopher O’Malley, CEO of Compuware. “Compuware is committed to helping mainframe organizations leverage the unmatched computing strengths of this platform while accelerating new development with the fewest errors. Agile source code management and release automation from ISPW is a key part of this, and we are committed to continually enhancing it to better meet our customers’ urgent competitive need to adopt Agile and DevOps methods.”
“Today, more than ever, businesses rely on IT to deliver a competitive edge,” remarked Thomas Hogan, Group Publisher of Database Trends and Applications. “However, it has become very difficult to sift through all the hype and identify products that produce results in the real world. We created this list to do the heavy lifting for you and point out the products that are really transforming enterprise data management and analysis.”
ISPW is a leading Agile source code management, release automation and automated deployment solution for mainframe applications. Compuware acquired it through their purchase of the technology from ISPW Benchmark Technologies in January 2016. Since then, Compuware has evolved ISPW in several important ways.
- In April 2016, Compuware announced advanced visualization capabilities for ISPW SCM, allowing developers to see how mainframe code changes will impact the rest of the mainframe environment. ISPW SCM was also fully integrated into the Topaz Workbench environment, which provides access to Compuware’s full suite of mainframe application development tools. For example, Compuware integrated ISPW with Topaz for Program Analysis so developers can immediately visualize complex application logic, quickly size up compile errors, and perform other useful program analysis tasks.
- In June 2016, Compuware announced ISPW Deploy, an advanced mainframe release automation solution that enables large enterprises to bring continuous delivery best practices to their IBM z/OS environments. ISPW Deploy facilitates faster and more reliable mainframe software deployment. Compuware also announced ISPW’s integration with XebiaLabs’ continuous delivery technology for cross-platform application release orchestration.
- In October 2016, Compuware announced new REST APIs for ISPW. The new APIs enable large enterprises to flexibly integrate their numerous other mainframe and non-mainframe DevOps tools with ISPW to create their own custom cross-platform DevOps toolchains. Use cases include integration with popular Agile/DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Slack, HipChat and XebiaLabs’ XL Release.
Compuware also announced in October 2016 the acquisition of the assets associated with Itegrations’s industry-leading source code management (SCM) migration practice and methodology. This acquisition enables enterprises to more easily and confidently migrate their SCM systems from Agile-averse products such as CA Endevor, CA Panvalet, CA Librarian, Micro Focus/Serena ChangeMan, IBM Rational Team Concert and IBM ClearCase—as well as internally developed SCM systems—to ISPW.
