Many fans are likely rooting for Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) and Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) to have their happily-ever-after ending. This is understandable especially since “Criminal Minds” season 15 is the show’s final installment on CBS.
A report from TVLine’s Michael Ausiello claimed that one of the major storylines in “Criminal Minds” season 15 is Reid’s new love interest. The plot will be explored through the last 10 episodes of the series. But it was not confirmed whether the person involved is JJ Jareau (A. J. Cook).
Fans have reason to believe that JJ and Reid could be an item in “Criminal Minds” season 15. But that would be very complicated. JJ is still married and many fans who do not like this idea argue that the characters are more like brother and sister in their eyes.
It can be recalled that the unsub forced JJ to reveal a secret that happens to be he is in love with Reid. When the long-time colleagues met at the season 14 wedding finale, Reid asked JJ if that was true but the answer has to wait until “Criminal Minds” season 15.
The JJ-Reid ship was actually foreshadowed in season 1 when Reid was too shy to ask her out to a Redskins game. But life happened — Reid had a couple of love interests while JJ found love in New Orleans, got married, and had kids. So there is a huge chance that the mystery woman in Reid’s life in “Criminal Minds” season 15 might not be JJ at all.
Prentiss is definitely one of the key members of the team and fans would love to see her get her own happy ending. It was only in season 14 when she finally had a connection with another character with the introduction of FBI agent Andrew Mendoza (Stephen Bishop). And reports note it would be a good running storyline for Prentiss to see her relationship with Andrew further develop in “Criminal Minds” season 15.
