Cross River Bank said Oct. 15 that fintech customers can route Ripple USD (RLUSD) payments over the XRP Ledger through its Core Operating System (COS) using one API in a limited number of U.S. states.

Access is limited to a number of U.S. states, which Cross River has not identified. COS also supports conventional bank transfers, so the ledger connection sits within a platform fintechs already use for banking services.

The new service applies XRPL to infrastructure Cross River introduced for stablecoin and fiat transactions on Nov. 24, 2025. Cross River said then that companies could use the infrastructure for fiat and stablecoin transactions without first funding accounts or creating separate ledgers. It has also described COS as a way for fintechs to offer RLUSD without building their own blockchain infrastructure. EconoTimes previously covered the bank’s RLUSD integration with its fintech payment system.

RLUSD issued on XRPL is covered by an institutional custody service from Standard Chartered’s Dubai International Financial Centre branch. A separate proposal involving Ripple and LMAX Group would let LMAX accept RLUSD as collateral for selected products, with its value reflected on LMAX’s platform and the tokens kept off the trading venue. The parties still need to complete documentation and testing, meet relevant legal and regulatory requirements, obtain internal approvals and establish readiness in each jurisdiction.

Aviva Investors said it launched an XRPL tokenized share class in July for its Aviva Investors US Dollar (USD) Liquidity Fund. Eligible investors can hold the digital shares in wallets; the fund’s custodian continues to hold its assets, and the tokenized share class does not alter the investment objective.

Ripple said its XRPL AI Starter Kit allows AI agents to make X402 payments in XRP or RLUSD for API calls, model inference and other digital services.

Cross River has not disclosed RLUSD transaction volumes, named initial customers or given a timetable for expanding access to more states.
