CLEARWATER, Fla., Nov. 02, 2017 -- On October 30th, Cub Scout Pack 313, chartered by the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization, celebrated their annual “Ichabod Crane Night” at Downtown Clearwater’s Fort Harrison Park. Cub Scouts participated in a Jack-O-Lantern contest where everyone wins and enjoyed roasting marshmallows.
Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 313 started their Ichabod Crane Night tradition 20 years ago and every year, Scouts get to show off their accomplished Jack-O-Lanterns.
This year, Scouts were presented with awards that best fit their hand-carved pumpkins. One Scout received the “Most Classic Jack-O-Lantern” while others received the awards for the “Baddabingi-est Pumpkin” and “Pumpkin that Most Resembles the Cub Master.”
“L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology founder, was an Eagle Scout himself and looked highly upon Scouting,” said Dylan Pires, the Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology and Eagle Scout. “He accredited many of his life skills to the Boy Scout program.”
Pack and Troop 313 are open to boys of any faith, as is any troop. Boys in the Scouting program are encouraged to be faithful and loyal, as laid out in the Scout Oath and Law.
