Fans have been highly anticipating the release of “Daredevil” Season 3, where the blind hero makes his triumphant return. Unfortunately, it seems these fans are going to be waiting a while longer since the show’s release has been reportedly delayed until after “Avengers 4.” It may be worth that extra time, however, as “Daredevil” Season 3 will see the return of Kingpin and will feature a family reunion. It could also be when Mat Murdoch’s (Charlie Cox) secret identity becomes compromised.
Filming for “Daredevil” Season 3 actually started around the same time as Season 2 of “Iron Fist,” but as Screen Rant notes, the Marvel TV panel at the recent San Diego Comic-Con saw no mention of the former. Instead, the event focused only on Danny Rand’s (Finn Jones) next adventures.
This is telling because “Daredevil” Season 3 was initially expected to air in early 2018, but it could be pushed back a little further until the second quarter due to how the TV shows tie with “Avengers 4.” The movie is scheduled to hit theatres in May next year, and the show could be released soon after that. Fans may want to keep this in mind since this upcoming season could up the stakes for Matt quite a bit.
As viewers might remember in Season 2, the last encounter between the lawyer alter-ego of Daredevil and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) saw Kingpin becoming suspicious of Matt. He asked for the do-gooder lawyer to be reexamined, which could lead to Matt’s identity being compromised in “Daredevil” Season 3.
As Radio Times notes, this follows the storyline as featured in the “Born Again” arc of the Daredevil comics, which was published around 1986. In these issues, Matt reunites with his mother, Maggie, who will be played by actress Joanne Whalley in “Daredevil” Season 3. This is supported by the ending scene in “The Defenders,” where Matt is seen recovering in a monastery and a nun is shouting “Get Maggie!” as he stirs awake.
