@Dbzdutch’s Coucoo Clothing Line Succeeds where @Arii’s failed

Instagram is the 7th most visited website in the world and has risen to become arguably the world’s most influential social media platform for young people. Instagram has well over a billion users worldwide, and around 60% of these users are between the ages of 18 and 34.

With such a huge demographic of young consumers, Instagram has become the perfect place for creatively minded people to launch their ventures. Many of these projects are in the fashion sector. Many Instagrammers with high amounts of followers attempt to use their platform to launch their clothing lines.

Some may cynically think that thousands of followers is all it takes to be successful as an Instagram entrepreneur. However, as we will explore, authenticity and quality will always shine through.

@Dbzdutch is an established fashion and lifestyle blogger and her clothing brand Coucoo, which she created in collaboration with her friend Aaliyah, has proved to be extremely popular despite only having launched 3 months ago. This is not always the case, though. @Arii, a popular American Instagram star, attempted to launch a clothing line to her 2.6 million followers. In what has become an infamous case of influencer failure, Arii failed to sell 36 shirts. So what sets these two examples apart?

Why Did @Arii’s Clothing Line Fail?

Ariana Renee, also known as @Arii, is an influencer who rose to prominence in 2016. Arii's fame subsequently spread to Instagram, where she currently has 2.6 million followers.

Despite possessing such a large following, it was allegedly not enough to sell 36 shirts of her ERA brand. A few days after this news broke, the Californian deleted a post in which she claims that, after putting her heart and soul into the project, hiring photographers and make-up artists, the company she works with will not deliver her collection of only 36 orders.

Arii then proceeded to level allegations at all of her friends who had not reposted and supported her effort, despite the fact that she had always encouraged their endeavours.

This failure sheds light on the true role and relevance of followers. Arii believed that a few postings would be sufficient to activate her network, underestimating the need for a well-structured and effective marketing strategy, as well as creating a product that the creator genuinely believes in.

@Dbzdutch’s Coucoo Brand Has Been a Huge Success

@Dbzdutch, known as Dabz, has garnered over half a million followers on Instagram. As we have seen with @Arii, though, this doesn’t mean much. Dabz’s brand, Coucoo, was launched in January of this year but despite this, Coucoo has already proved to be a triumph.

Coucoo provides a luxurious experience with a variety of clothes at a fraction of the price. Amongst its collection, everyone can find something to help them reach their best potential. It is clear that @dbzdutch is genuinely invested in Coucoo and the quality and inclusivity of the clothing have helped to make it a success. She is quoted as saying “I created coucoo because I felt like the UK was really lacking in catering for curvy girls. We design our clothes with curves in mind.

I had the hope of allowing every woman to feel sexy and in touch with their feminine energy.”

With Coucoo, Dabz has set herself apart from what some people would call an ‘Instagram girl’, into a fully-fledged brand owner. Dabz has confirmed that a second Coucoo collection is on its way and has already offered some previews on her Instagram. The future looks bright for Coucoo.
