“Death Stranding 2” is once again in the headlines, thanks to a small update from actor Norman Reedus. However, fans may also be wondering what game director Hideo Kojima has said about making a sequel.
The actor, who plays Daryl Dixon in the AMC’s post-apocalyptic horror drama series, has added his role in “Death Stranding” in his long list of achievements. Reedus played the role of Sam Porter Bridges, and players assume his role in Kojima’s action game. Therefore, if there are people who have access to early information about the making of a sequel, Reedus is very likely to be one of them.
Reedus was recently interviewed by AdoroCinema about the series finale of “The Walking Dead,” where he also briefly discussed the possibility of making “Death Stranding 2.” “I think we’re doing a second ‘Death Stranding,’” Reedus said (via IGN Brazil). “[The game] is in negotiations right now. So… Yay!”
Neither Kojima nor anyone from Kojima Productions has definitively said if “Death Stranding 2” is in the pipeline. But the game director has once said he is open to making a sequel.
In September 2019, a few months before the PS4 version of “Death Stranding” was released, Kojima said he hoped that the game would become a base for its genre. And that could mean the world he created with Sam Porter Bridges might not end with just the first game. “When you create something new, you have to create a sequel and then a third version or it [will] not remain as a genre,” Kojima told GameSpot.
At the time, though, Kojima could not say for certain yet if it would be a full sequel. "Yeah, probably at least 1.5, and then 2, maybe, at least so that it remains and people are aware of the genre," Kojima added.

In June last year, fans also started talking about “Death Stranding 2” when many of them, through Kojima, dropped an Easter egg on a Twitter post. Kojima, who has also made a name for creative marketing stunts, shared a photo and said he was working on a “concept” at the time. The photo in question shows an illustration of a train that eagle-eyed fans saw has the logo of Bridges, the company prominently featured in the first game.
