Nike is set to release a retail version of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG 'Howard University,' inspired by its player-exclusive design for Howard athletes. Meanwhile, CNCPTS has revealed its exclusive 'Welcome to the Garden' pack, featuring the Tatum 3, available through an online raffle.

Updated Air Jordan 1 Low OG 'Howard University' Edition Featuring New Design Tweaks

Nike, Inc. and Jordan Brand have long demonstrated their support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through various product releases, with the Nike Terminator High HBCU collection serving as a notable example. However, the standout moment came in 2022 when images of a player-exclusive (PE) Air Jordan 1 Low created for Howard University athletes surfaced online, sparking widespread excitement. Two years later, a version of this highly coveted design is set to hit the market—albeit with some changes.

In the Sneaker News report, the retail version differs from the exclusive PE in several vital ways. The original's glossy finish, textured jeweled Swoosh, and satin detailing have been replaced with matte leather. Additionally, the iconic Howard University colors—navy and red—are still present but arranged in "Black Toe" color-blocking, a shift from the original “Chicago” style. The gum-colored sole of the PE version has also been swapped for a navy outsole, rounding out the design updates.

Though these changes are expected—previous releases based on PEs, like the Jordan 5 “Oregon,” also distinguished between the limited edition and general release versions—the “Howard University” Air Jordan 1 Low OG still boasts a sleek and refined aesthetic. The familiar combination of "Midnight Navy," "Gym Red," and white is complemented by off-white “Muslin” tones on the tongue and laces, as well as a red mini Swoosh at the forefoot.

Sneaker Politics has provided a closer look at this upcoming release, which will launch on October 12th, 2024, with an MSRP of $140.

CNCPTS Unveils Exclusive 'Welcome to the Garden' Jordan Pack

Following a sneak peek of the Jordan Tatum 3 and its initial colorways, CNCPTS has shared additional details about their exclusive "Welcome to the Garden" pack. This collection, featuring the Air Jordan 1 Low and the Tatum 3, is set to debut on October 5th through a CNCPTS raffle for local pick-up.

Similarly to the upcoming wide release of the "Welcome to the Garden" Tatum 3 on October 10th, the CNCPTS pack showcases floral patterns across both silhouettes. The design is further distinguished by gilded detailing throughout, a nod to championship pedigree. According to Jordan Brand, the garden concept in the Tatum line emphasizes themes of peace, family, and tranquility. Still, this particular iteration also references a nocturnal set of PEs made for the Celtics star toward the end of 2023.

CNCPTS, known for hosting exclusive releases in its Boston flagship store, is capitalizing on the Celtics’ championship aspirations as they prepare to celebrate another potential banner. This release's "double box" packaging will only be available through an online drawing. While details of the draw have yet to be announced, CNCPTS will provide updates on its website. Boston-area fans are encouraged to visit the flagship store for a full Jordan Brand activation, including an exhibit that showcases Tatum’s journey and features the actual Larry O’Brien trophy.
