Iran is considering a nuclear proposal from Qatar as U.S.-Iran talks remain inactive, a diplomat familiar with the discussions said, pointing to a possible change in Tehran’s approach to subjects it once avoided.

The diplomat said Qatar, a principal mediator in the negotiations, had put forward a proposal concerning Iran’s nuclear program. The diplomat said Tehran’s earlier reluctance to engage on some nuclear questions may be shifting and saw a possible route to ending the conflict.

Negotiations remain inactive following the breakdown of an interim peace accord reached in June. Earlier EconoTimes coverage said whether Doha had formally presented a draft to Iran was contested; coverage of the disputed proposal outlined the competing accounts.

Separately, Reuters previously reported, citing a senior Iranian official, that Iran had sent Washington a nuclear proposal through Qatar and would discuss it only after the United States met seven demands, as detailed in EconoTimes’ earlier report on Iran’s conditions for talks.
